A model who was attacked with acid on her 21st birthday has shared a picture of her incredible recovery a year on from the horrific attack.
Resham Khan was with her cousin Jameel Mukhtar in a car stopped at a traffic light in Beckton, east London, when John Tomlin threw acid at them through an open window.
They were left scarred for life, with Miss Khan being placed into an induced coma due to the severity of her injuries.
She later said: ‘This was the day when my face was taken away from me.’
One year on from the horrific attack, the 22-year-old shared a picture of herself celebrating her birthday in Marmaris, Turkey, with friends.
Miss Khan posted videos of herself from inside a club, with a scrolling message that said: ‘Live your best life. Resham is 22!’
She then later shared a birthday snap with the caption: ‘I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22 #birthdaygirl.’
The brave girl also revealed that her friends managed to convince restaurant staff to play Taylor Swift’s song 22.
Tomlin, 25, was sentenced to 16 years in prison at Snaresbrook Crown Court in April.
In a victim statement read to the court, Miss Khan said: ‘My 21st birthday turned into a day where my face was taken away from me.
‘I have been looking at myself in the mirror it upsets me, it brings back the incident on the day, it doesn’t look like me.
‘No matter what his sentence may be, these injuries will affect me for the rest of my life.’
